The CW has given the first look into “One Tree Hill” season 7 through a promo for its new time schedule. In midseason, the drama occupied the Monday 9/8c slot with the lead in from “Gossip Girl“. But this Fall, “Hill” will be the Monday starter at 8/7c.
The promo did not only give information on the new time, but also what kind of story will be brought up. With the official departures of Chad Michael Murray and Hilarie Burton, the drama is focusing the spotlight to Brooke and Julian. In the promo, Brooke is heard uttering the “I love you”. A recent scoop from E! Online suggested that Brooke and Julian indeed will “last” on the series, while Lucas and Peyton are goners.
In replacement for the loss of two major characters, the execs have hired a bunch of new bloods as fillers. Robert Buckley of “Lipstick Jungle” fame will play the brash sport agent to Nathan while Shantel VanSanten is cast as Haley’s sister named Quinn. Jana Kramer is the latest addition, playing Brooke’s new face in fashion, Alexis.
The seventh season premieres on Monday, September 14.
A One Tree Hill rep is now confirming what I first hinted at in Ask Ausiello: The bitch is back!
Danneel Harris has closed a deal to reprise her role as pot-stirrer Rachel Gatina in at least seven episodes next season, beginning with eppy 7.02.
Harris made her Tree Hill debut as Brooke’s high school nemesis in season 3 but wasn’t made a series regular until season 4. She was written out in season 5 after only a handful of episodes, an apparent victim of the show’s four-year flash forward.
In other Tree Hill news, the last of next season’s new contract roles has gone to Nuevo 90210 grad Jana Kramer. She’ll play Alexis, a model who becomes the new face of Brooke’s clothing line. As previously reported, Lipstick Jungle’s Robert Buckley and relative newcomer Shantel VanSanten are also joining the cast as Nathan’s sports agent and Haley’s sister
On the heels of her recurring role on the CW’s “90210,” Jana Kramer is joining another CW drama, veteran “One Tree Hill.”
In a multi-episode arc next season, she will play model/actress Alexis, the new face of Brooke’s (Sophia Bush) clothing line. Alexis is an adrenaline junkie and a diva who loves parties and is used to getting her way.
On “90210,” Kramer played Portia Ranson. She also recurred on NBC’s “Friday Night Lights.”
With the cast undergoing an overhaul, some One Tree Hill fans are wondering whether the show will cast an African-American or other minority in any of the new roles. Thus far, it’s 0-for-2, with Robert Buckley and Shantel VanSanten have been cast in the roles of Nathan’s agent and Haley’s sister, Quinn, respectively.
As for “Alex” or “Alexis” (the supermodel fronting Brooke’s new clothing line), One Tree Hill says it’s looking at “all ethnicities,” so there’s hope there.
That role has yet to be cast, however, and the show is reportedly taking its time. On a somewhat related note, NFL legend Jerry Rice will appear as himself in the September 14 opener. All 15 fans who have heard of him will totally love that!
Following recent reports that Brian Austin Green had agreed to join the cast of One Tree Hill, only to get cold feet and back out for some reason, Michael Ausiello of Entertainment Weekly confirms this morning that Green is indeed out for next season.
However, despite Green’s reps cooling to the idea of a One Tree Hill gig and nixing the deal, Lipstick Jungle hottie Robert Buckley has signed on to replace him!
Talk about things happening for a reason!
Who needs Chad Michael Murray or Brian Austin Green when you can have this hotness? In fairness to the former, nothing can ever replace Lucas, but hey, those three-named fellas are things of the past, and we have this to look forward to now.
All we can hope is that the show time-warps to a point where he’s shirtless …
